Celebrating the one year anniversary of her debut album Common Ground, Sam Stokes has
been sharing her music across the globe these past 12 months.
After a slew of successful performances at legendary venues like the Viper Room, El Cid, Hotel
Cafe and a few special performances in Hamburg, Berlin and London, Stokes has been bringing
the light and love from this album to audiences near and far. The album and the book have been
well received, sparking attention from publications like Vents Magazine and Earmilk. And it is just
the beginning.
Her solo album captures something indescribable – it is raw, tender, intimate moment of a soul
entering its body.
As she explored her darkest demons and the brightest light within her, she decided to hit record
at her home studio. This album has the rage of wildfire burning down whatever is in her way and
the peace of a thousand year old monk, smiling as she learns her truth.
It is perfectly imperfect. It is an explosion of raw, unfiltered and untethered energy.
She is honest, authentic and perhaps most importantly, she is hopeful. She commits to love
again and again and again. She believes in the highest version of herself, the highest version of
humanity and the highest most beautiful planet for us to live on.
For the fans who have been listening carefully, you may have noticed a fuller sound at some of
Stokes’ most recent shows. She’s been performing throughout LA with all-star musicians MB
Gordy on drums and Karl Vincent on bass, bringing a transcendent experience to the live shows.
“This may sound crazy, but we barely rehearse. We purposefully keep things loose so they stay
light and fresh. Every single show we do is dierent” Stokes shares. “We’re constantly trying new
sounds, new ideas and getting lost in the moment of music.”
Anyone who’s gone to one of their shows can’t deny, these three are a power trio.
