At just 8 years old I fell in love with songwriting during the first Covid lockdown in March 2020. Hailing from an Indian family, I am always taking inspiration from my rich and colourful culture. I am learning South Indian classic music (Carnatic). I also love dance, having learnt ballet, contemporary and hip-hop. Having already released two original songs, Music Is My Religion and I See You Now, the latter of which was recognised by former prime minister Jacinda Ardern with a handwritten note, my musicianship truly came with the release of her debut EP Emotions in May 2023. I have so much more music to write and release with new sounds and styles so keep an eye out!

Where are you based?
Melbourne, Australia

How long have you been making music?
2021 – Present

What genre would you consider your music to be?
Pop

What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
As a child I grew up watching Disney and musicals which fueled my passion for music. I wanted to entertain and connect with people just like the stars and characters on my TV screen.

What are your biggest musical influences?
I think my taste is definitely different to when I started making music or even to when “Emotions” released but now I would say Laufey, Madison Beer, Ella Fitzgerald, Cindy Lauper and Ariana Grande. Overall I think each of these artists kind of helped me form my sound and in future projects I hope it will resonate.

Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?
Currently I am an independent artist.

What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
I think my age is probably one of my biggest challenges and starting out so young, not really knowing what I was getting into I think I couldn’t see that there was a lot of influence by the adults around me especially with my projects before “Emotions”. I want to show at least one little girl that she can achieve her dreams and it doesn’t always come the first try but if you love what you do and put your mind to it, no matter your age or background you can reach your goals.

How many songs or albums have you released to date?
I have released two singles “Music is my Religon” and “I See You Now” respectively, and one EP called “Emotions”.

Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
Overrall I think this reflected my actual emotions, pun not intended, at the time and though it was just a year ago the songs talk about finding yourself and I think this year I truly did find myself and my music. Generally my music tends to reflect where I am mentally at that time and even on the day of recording it they felt so real and true almost like I was having a conversation with my own mind. During the process of writing them, the songs 100% changed quite a bit but in particular “Change Myself” was actually written I think about a year before I decided to put it on the EP. I think that song is definitely timeless for me out of all of them and though my sound and style will and has changed I will always hold it very close to my heart.

Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
You will definitely be hearing more of my music soon so keep an eye out!
