Fast-rising Brit band, Lapels, bounded onto the scene to mammoth critical acclaim at the end of 2021, as their first two singles garnered comparisons to some of the UK’s most iconic bands. Now the 4-piece band’s core song-writing duo, Nathan Pointon and Andy Lewis, reveal further dimensions to their lyrical talent with the release of Lapels’ third, and more down-tempo single, ‘The Life and Times’, out 22 April.

The Lewis/Pointon song-writing approach is fluid; they pen independently as the muse takes them, boosting each other where needed, with an agreement that the writer will sing that song. However, ‘The Life and Times’ is an equal-share collaboration from this young song-writing team, this time with Nathan stepping up on lead vocals. The track depicts how bad habits lead to a destructive lifestyle, and how choosing to ignore your faults, spirals into deeper depths, whilst life fritters away. Nathan sings from the weary, worn-down perspective of being tired of it all.

The band’s first two singles, ‘Warning Lights’ and ‘All Things Down To You’, stopped the boys in their tracks, as comparisons to the Gallagher brothers flew from all directions, ‘like a bonus track from Oasis’ ‘What’s The Story (Morning Glory), Nathan sounds like the third of the Gallaghers’ – Both tracks catapulted these four ordinary boys from the East Midlands from obscurity, to being seen as the forefront pioneers of a returning BritPop movement.

Now Lapels want to show audiences that their sound surpasses the upbeat indie/pop vibe that we’ve heard so far; there’s a whole lot more to Lapels than that. ‘The Life And Times’ unveils a more mature, grounded sound, that extends beyond their years. Signed to Marquee Records and the ink still wet on a live agent signing – Lapels are proving to be a serious force to be reckoned with.

The new single, ‘The Life And Times’ is released on Marquee Records on 22 April
