Jackslacks When Pigs Fly drops into iTunes November 1, 2020 on indie label Shield of Love!

Twenty-twenty … a long, strange trip indeed! Fresh out of quarantine, roots-rocker Jackslacks is back with his new release, “When Pigs Fly,” a fun, danceable morsel of swamp, romp & roll! Drop November 1st on indie label Shield of Love.

The bluesy first single, “Hog Heaven” starts matters off, a fine tribute to fallen life-long friend Billy Bacon from popular Tex-Mex group Forbidden Pigs. Joined by remaining Pigs Jerry “Hot Rod” DeMink, Adrian Demain, and Tim “Steelbone” Cook—plus pianist Dave Roof—the song captures some of the long-running band’s catchy grooves, accompanied by genuinely heartfelt lyrical composition. You might say these boys are “Dressed to Swill.”

Up next: “The Way,” a horn-infused little ditty imagined in a time machine dialed back to the Summer of Love! From 2” tape to a crackly disc on your turntable … and then, wamma-jamma, funneled right into your boss earbuds! This track swings hard, highlighted by Jackslacks uplifting message of hope, Billy Raven’s thumping doghouse bass, and driving hollow-body guitars courtesy of DeMink and Gig Fortier. Jump-jump!

The final track is entitled, “Just For Me,” a straight-up, red-hot rocker featuring the one and only Tommy Byrnes playing his big, fat, 6120 model Gretsch. His mastery of memorable licks coming upon you frantically, like a fast-moving freight train! The collective rumble evokes ghosts of rockabilly past, and his tenure with Stray Cats. A love song of sorts, this number is equal parts pompadour, leather jacket, and pointed toe shoes!

Jackslacks honed his chops as a founding member in both Forbidden Pigs and Hot Rod Lincoln, popular groups in the early San Diego roots-rock scene. He has performed and recorded with many popular players of the genre, as well as opening shows for a variety of original and neo revival acts all across the United States, including hero’s Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Chuck Berry, The Blasters, Robert Gordon, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Reverend Horton Heat, NRBQ, Junior Brown, Morrissey and others.
