I-Shenko Was Born John Mckenzie In The Parish Of Kingston & St. Andrew, Jamaica On The 20th Of May,1984. He Attended Schools Such As Harrison Prep, St. Thomas More Prep, Ensom City All-Age & St. Jago High School. It Was While At High School He Developed A Passion For Music Where He Started Writing Hip Hop Lyrics And Would Often Venture Off With Friends To Nearby Local Studios Where He Recorded His Demos On Cassette Tapes At The Time.
After Leaving High School In 2001, He Attended The Infoserv Institute Of Technology Where He Pursued A Course in Audio Engineering. This Gave Him The Opportunity To Meet The Legendary “Jack Scorpio” Of Black Scorpio Sound & Records In 2003, Who At The Time Had Been Overseeing A Class Practical Being Held In His Studio. Jack Scorpio Heard I-Shenko Doing A Demo For The Practical And Complimented Him On His Vocals, Saying He Had Wonderful Vocals And He Should Do More Reggae Music Instead Of Hip Hop Which Was Not Very Marketable In Jamaica At The Time. I-Shenko Took His Advice, Worked on His Craft And Transitioned To The Sound We Now Know Of Him Today, Dancehall/Reggae With a Fusion Of Hip Hop At Times.
He Recorded And Released His First Ever Official Reggae Single “Hate In Them” Produced By The Alpha Production Label In 2004, This Song Got Heavy Rotation In Parts Of The Caribbean, Europe & Africa, Where He Developed A Fanbase We See Growing To Date. Since Then He Has Recorded Countless Amounts Of Songs For Producers & Record labels Around The World Including His Most Popular To Date, The Collaboration With Fellow Reggae Superstar Turbulence Titled “Obeah Man” On The Downtown Riddim Produced By Riddimwise Label In Canada. Performance Wise I-Shenko Has Performed On Many Shows Across Jamaica, Such As Followed:- “Reggae In The Valley” / “Dancehall Ram Jam’ / “Campfire” / “Bring Back The Love” / “Taurus Bash” And Many More, Sharing Stages With The Likes Of Sizzla, Jimmy Riley, Bounty Killer, Turbulence, GinJah, Lutan Fyah, Chronixx & Much More Acts. He Is Yet To Make His International Debut On Stages Around The World, However, He Is Looking Forward To Doing So Soon While Setting The Groundwork And Maintaining His Determination Forward.
