MysticChordZ are a duo from Colorado. William Mast and Kevin Killinger met as young teenagers and formed “Legend” a Denver based 3 piece band that lasted 6 years. After the band broke up, Kevin and William lost track of each other for 40 years! They reformed as MysticChordZ in 2021 and although they live 100 miles away from one another, that didn’t stop their desire to write and record. We write our songs via Zoom, and Kevin takes to recording them in his studio, all the while discussing the direction of the song until completion.
Where are you based?
Denver, Colorado Springs Colorado
How long have you been making music?
40+ years
What genre would you consider your music to be?
Classic 70’s Rock with just a splash of prog
What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
Seeing The Beatles on Ed Sullivan inspired both of us. Since starting our own band, we find that being in a band is downright fun!
What are your biggest musical influences?
Beatles, Rolling Stones, Yes, Pink Floyd. We each have our favorites. William is straight rock n roll, while Kevin is more of a prog guy, both styles come out in our music.
Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?
Independent
What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
Our biggest challenge has been promotion and management. When we started out we just wanted to be famous. After years of performing with little to no money, now, years later our view point has changed. We’re the best we’ve ever been in our long history together and we believe in our music. Now, the challenge is growing our fan base and securing a publishing deal.
How many songs or albums have you released to date?
20 songs and 1 cd
Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
Fly Away is our latest release. It’s a fun sing along song about going Big Time, time for me to fly. Realizing that it’s a popular song by another artist, we included an Ohmage to that band in the verse. Listen closely and you’ll hear it.
Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
The recording process is always going. Once a song is done and out, we start on the next one. Generally we try to release new music every 4 to 8 weeks.
