I’m Johanna Koskiniemi and a featuring artist in a band called MATD. I have always loved music and have been involved with music all my life. I have studied piano, saxophone, and trumpet and I’ve also taken singing lessons. I have participated in various theater productions and studied music and acting all the way abroad. While living in Texas I took voice lessons and took part in University Interscholastic League (UIL) competition, in individual vocal and rated superior, the top rating.

How long have you been making music?
MATD feat Johanna have been working together for two years now, but the history of the MATD band goes way back further.’
What genre would you consider your music to be?
Mainly pop and rock
What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I’ve always loved music, singing and performing, so I decided to put all these together, take a risk and see how far I can go in chasing my dreams.
What are your biggest musical influences?
Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?

What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
It’s really hard work to get your music heard and make yourself known, when you don’t have a manager, a record label, a distributor etc. You really have to do all the work by yourself.
How many songs or albums have you released to date?
MATD feat Johanna has released two songs by now, but we have new releases coming up soon.
Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
The original idea of the song was that dictators don’t have a happy ending. The people will eventually revolt and put an end to the dictatorship. The song was sent several years ago to Finland’s Eurovision Song Contest pre-qualification stage by the soloist Anna-Kaisa Pippuri. But it didn’t qualify, and was never released.In 2024 the song was transformed into a different story in which we approach a relationship with the question “what could a cheating spouse read from your lips?

MATD feat Johanna is working hard on new material, so stay tuned, great songs will be released in near future.
