Where are you based?
I live in LA but I go to college in NYC!

How long have you been making music?
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, but I started releasing music when I was 10. I started taking it more seriously when I was 16, so 4 years now!

What genre would you consider your music to be?
I like to play around in different subgenres within pop. Some stuff I make has more rock influence and some is definitely more electronic. But I’d consider it alt pop overall!

What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I’ve always loved telling stories: I grew up recreating scenes from my favorite TV shows, writing my own scripts, and improvising one-woman musicals for my family. My childhood iPad is filled with videos of me singing songs I made up. When I was ten years old, I was approached by a music producer and released my first single. However, it wasn’t until about four years ago that my focus shifted from releasing a single here and there to being a professional singer songwriter.

What are your biggest musical influences?
I’m a huuuge fan of Lorde, she is such a visionary. Recently, I’ve been listening to a lot of Green Day, Blondie and Metric so I feel like some of the stuff I’ve been writing definitely feels more pop rock. Aside from that, I love Jeff Buckley, Maisie Peters, and Conan Gray.

Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?
Independent 🙂

What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
I’ve had my fair share of challenges for sure and one of them is writer’s block. But, I like to remind myself that this is normal for every creative and focus on other aspects of my music career, such as preparing for and playing live shows.

How many songs or albums have you released to date?
A bit over two dozen!

Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
“HOLD UR PEACE” is an edgy pop-rock song that brutally slams an “addict” to “no commitment” for their mixed signals and confusing web of secrets. By the time the chorus hits, a relatively modest verse gives way to guitar shredding and energetic drum fills, providing the perfect soundscape for the track’s bold lyrics play on the phrase “speak now or forever hold your peace.” I made this song with Mike Pepe, Brooke Daye, and AJ Peacox in a nice, air-conditioned room in the middle of the summer, so we definitely enjoyed writing a track with so much energy in it.

Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
I have sooo much new music in the works!!! I think I have more fully-written, produced songs in my vault than I’ve ever had so I can’t wait to release some of it. I’m also playing a show in NYC on February 15th! Tickets can be found at kaceyfifield.com 🙂
