Where are you based?
North Hollywood, CA

How long have you been making music?
My parents made the mistake of buying me a karaoke machine when I was about ten. They couldn’t tear the microphone out of my hands after that, ha ha.

What genre would you consider your music to be?
New Age. If you’re not familiar with that genre, it’s basically “soothing music.” Music that is intended to create peaceful, meditative, healing, positive, and relaxing feelings.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
Music was in my heart and I just couldn’t see any other way to spend my life other than creating music.

What are your biggest musical influences?
I love so many artists of extremely varied genres. Specifically in the realm of New Age, Ethereal, and Cinematic styles – all of which are my main area of musical focus – I am a huge fan of Lisa Gerrard and Dead Can Dance, and also love Olafur Arnalds.

Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?
Indie all the way!

What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
Well, as of the last five years, it has been a rare and chronic airway disease called Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis. Basically, what this means is that for unknown reasons, scar tissue started growing across my trachea, and I need to have surgery twice a year to keep breathing. Singing is all about breathing, and so it’s not as easy now. A side effect of the disease is needing to cough a lot, which also puts a lot of wear and tear on the voice. The surgeries also put my voice at risk, as they have to use a laser on the scar tissue in an area not to much further down my trachea from where my vocal cords sit. So far, none of this has stopped me. The silver lining with the unknowns and with the struggles is that this disease has given me a deeper and more profound gratitude for the opportunity to create music, to sing, and to simply be alive.

How many songs or albums have you released to date?
In the New Age genre, this is my fourth album. Because I also write a lot of songs for Film & TV, I release a lot of music in other genres, too, and also under some aliases.

Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
“Breath of Gratitude” is a musical representation of my ongoing survival story with Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis. Diagnosed in 2019, the disease effects two in a million people – why couldn’t I have just won the lottery?! To date, I have undergone nine surgeries on my trachea to open up my narrowed airway and allow breath to flow freely to my lungs. I needed to create a project which allowed me to process and express the life and musical challenges/changes the disease has brought with it. I felt a calling to be open about this – not only as an emotional release, but even more so to shed light on this rare disease, and let others know they are not alone in their struggles with health challenges. “Breath of Gratitude” is characterized by melodic, gentle, flowing, and uplifting music, with wordlesss, ethereal-style vocals. While firmly rooted in the New Age genre, the music has Classical, Ambient, and Global undertones, too. I’m happy to say “Breath of Gratitude” charted #1 on the New Age charts on both iTunes and Amazon. And I am so proud to say that via album sales, I raised $2000 for research and awareness for Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis (the disease that I have).

Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
“Breath of Gratitude” has been such a journey, and I am only just coming up for air, so to speak, after releasing the album in August 2024. I am taking a moment to evaluate where to focus my energy next. But new music is always part of the plan!
