Juan Ignacio Quesada is an Argentine multi-instrumentalist whose music blends rock, ambient, and orchestral influences to create layered compositions.
Where are you based?
Orlando, Florida
How long have you been making music?
35 years
What genre would you consider your music to be?
Classic Rock and Prog Rock
What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I picked up the guitar when I was 15 years old influenced by David Gilmour and Mark Knopfler at that time. Although I’ve applied Knopfler’s technique, David Gilmour became my biggest influence and inspiration
What are your biggest musical influences?
Pink Floyd, Camel and Marillion
Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?
Independent Artist
What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
I am a one-man band with occasional collaboration from Tekin Irengun (drums), so there’s that. I write, record, and produce everything myself at home. Including instruments which I am not super skilled at (piano, for example), creates an extra effort. I always want my music to sound unique, and even though some people hear the influence from Pink Floyd, I think I accomplish this fairly well. Combining music with my work and family makes things even more challenging.
How many songs or albums have you released to date?
I have released 3 Singles and 2 EP to date.
Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
Broken Play,” the latest single, is a slow Prog Rock song with powerful lyrics and an interesting arrangement. Unlike my previous works, it doesn’t rely heavily on guitars, primarily using piano and Hammond B3. While there’s a short guitar solo in the middle, two MiniMoog solos also add to the keyboard-driven sound.
Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
I am always working on new stuff so eventually something will come out.
