Elias Orman is an independent hip-hop artist from Springfield Tennessee on the outskirts of Nashville, producing and publishing music under the name HymnSelf. He began taking music seriously in early 2017 although he said it was always something he had dreamed to do. What genre would you consider your music to be?
I guess hip-hop or rap but I dont think my music should necessarily be conceptualized because it comes from an original place
What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
mostly just other artists I listened to all the time, and I discovered I was actually good at it. I’ve always written lyrics since I was little. I just love music
What are your biggest musical influences?
Just life itself. Just the struggle of living a fulfilling life. Also just the quest for truth in this world, passion, and relationships.

Im 100% independent right now
What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
I’d say doing everything on my own. Especially funding my own campaigns and releases without professional team.
How many songs or albums have you released to date?
I have a mixtape out along with like 6 singles with a handful of features with close talented friends of mine. Im working on an EP/short album right now.
Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
Sure, its sort of wishy washy as far as content and its more of a flow of consciousness writing. The intro mentions some things that are disturbing and frustrating to my mind but the rest of the track turns into a sort of midnight rendezvous with a female
