My name is Melanie and I am the lead singer/bandleader of Diana Is Calling, a funk/pop fusion band I formed with my former colleagues from The University of The Arts.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I have always wanted to be a musician/songwriter. I have been performing since I was little but I watched my parents struggle financially because my dad was in the arts so I was scared. It wasn’t until I really struggled with my mental health that I realized life was too short to not go for what you want.
What are your biggest musical influences?
The Fugees, the Beatles, Billy Joel, jazz artists

What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
Financial support and having to quit jobs to dedicate more time and the pandemic lol

Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
“Goodbye” is about getting out relationships that are toxic. “never love” is about mental health and being able to love someone completely but not yourself.
