36 years total playing experience, but 2 and a half years as a singer songwriter.
What genre would you consider your music to be?
My music falls under the Country/Americana style
What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I have always loved music and performing in band. Having lifelong friends I made from my high school days. It was this love of music and being able to play and bring emotions to audiences that led me to pursue a teaching degree where I earned a Bachelors and Masters degree in music education.
What are your biggest musical influences?
My biggest influences ranges from jazz, to heavy metal. I was a metal head listening to Rush, Iron Maiden, Metallica, but when I joined jazz band in high school it opened up more genres and musical ideas within me. Now as I have gotten older I still listen to almost any genre but I can now relate more to the country genre. So influences like George Strait, Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn are apparent in the music i write and sing.
Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?
I am an indie artist currently but will definitely be open to a record label if the opportunity arises.
What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
Biggest challenges is writing a story to music that people can relate to as well as put some of my personal ideas and opinions in them.
How many songs or albums have you released to date?
I have released 8 singles as of Nov. 2024.
Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
My newest release is called “Better Than Me”. It is a song I wrote for my sons. It details a father watching his son grow up and becoming a man and being better than the father. We all want our children to grow up and surpass us without making mistakes like we did.
Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
My upcoming project is to play for a veteran fundraiser in June in Illinois, that helps soldiers during depression so they don’t become a 22. I also have a new song I’m working on. It’s a country waltz. I hope to get in the studio with it in March or April.
