Where are you based?
El Paso, Texas
How long have you been making music?
Since Desertaire Elementary School home of the silver hawks. I came in forth place at the talent show dancing to “I feel good” by James Brown. I just showed up and danced like I normally did at home no practice at all or maybe it was.
What genre would you consider your music to be?
Hip Hop
What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
In fourth grade my mom bought me a vhs from Walmart. We were walking in the electronics section about to leave and I saw a VHS sticking out the bottom of the shelf and it had an African-American male dressed in black with a gold chain and a really cool haircut. #Hammerman
What are your biggest musical influences?
The story of MC Hammer was amazing to watch as a child with the Hammerman VHS; from there I started doing more research and learned at a young age no matter what you do for people you still have to watch out for yourself first and believe in the Bible or the great architect. I loved watching 50cent, Eazy-E, Chris Tucker dance with Michael Jackson, P.Diddy known as love now , well his story to me was so interesting the idea of going to Howard making a name for himself and learning at an early age when you grind day and night sometimes you don’t have to finish to have a degree to show for it. Because you end up knowing everything perfectly well to a point you have to leave and maximize you’re potential instead of sitting in class. That was then but he made so much money and put so many people on he came back and finish what he started in his own way with money falling out his pockets. Hey who wouldn’t do that bill gates did right?
Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?
Currently I’m an independent artist as a writer, promoter, and rapper.
What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
From the age of 21 I began my hard work in the industry. I was taught at the University of Texas at El paso to help people with the microphone first then hold it later. Some people that I worked didn’t know that and I liked that they did not because I was turned down by a local radio station as an intern from the University of Texas at El Paso because I worked with certain people and they straight up told me they were scared of those promoters because of how well they organized themselves to throw local concerts. My heart was heart and dreams destroyed. But I looked at Elijah Donnell and Brent Ackerman from Profesh Entertainment and they said “It’s okay you’re gonna get chance to make name for yourself with any radio station. We are going to show you how we keep doing it by ourselves.” Then I was later introduced to Patrick Freelon a cub owner and promoter/entrepreneur. How many songs or albums have you released to date?
Just one song, Unlock The street by CityEmpire
Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
It was an amazing experience. During my journey as a writer and promoter Dub Taylor gave me his CD one day and just rode away on a motorcycle and I played his song “On momma” and my whole life changed as a writer. I get nervous asking people to collaborate because of what happened to me as a college student at the radio station and he just gave me a price and his producers studio address then came Unlock the street. Shout out to Paradox studio and Tony Arispe.
Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
Were very excited about Antoinette Lashawn Davis from San Antonio, Texas. I recently discussed with her about Business correspondence and communications and she not only helped out our organization but also contributed her talent as an artist. When she dances and freestyle’s in a private setting she’s flame , fire, charged up, wavy flow and lyrics, can move her body like a piano, making want to be the goat yourself. Now that what we call living the DREAM at CityEmpire Entertainment Est.2011.
