ue to lockdown and not able to perform live Andrew needed to find a new way of reaching out to his audience and through social media, many have been following his story and route back into music. It was one social media post in particular that caught the attention of a record producer the opposite side of the globe and it motivated David Wilks of DWP Records Australia to reach out to Andrew.

Andrew was looking for inspiration and music to record for his blog and David knew he had just the right song. For David it was an exciting challenge as Andrew is his first UK pop artist.

‘When I’m With You’ is an original song written by David Wilks and is released through DWP Records / Odessa Mama Records, one of the leading independent record labels based Melbourne. Its a brilliantly crafted classic retro pop song with great percussion, synths, guitar rifts and an incredibly catchy chorus guaranteed to have you on your feet dancing and singing along in seconds.

I loved that classic pop sound of Stock, Aitken and Waterman and they made some fantastic pop songs for the likes of Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan and many more and Mike Stock is still making great music today with the likes of artists such as Shayne Ward and The Fizz.

Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
I’m enjoying making pop music and I want people of all ages to enjoy it, it’s a fun, uplifting catchy pop song, a lot of songs you hear now are to politicised or sexualised and not suitable for some of the younger age groups. Parents should be able to turn on their TV, radio or whatever and not have the fear of listening to swearing or words being bleeped out because they are offensive’. ‘I’m not worried about making a ‘bouncy’ pop song, I just wanted a song that was simple and that you could sing along to and people would instantly recognise it’.

Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
Originally ‘When I’m With You’ was just a one off collaboration however, we have been working on a few ideas and possibly a cover version and potentially a new pop track. I’m very keen to be able to be able to perform live again at some point, I’m enjoying being a solo artist but who knows, I would also be interested in joining a band, maybe not a new band but either an established pop band or something if there was an opportunity’. ‘For my music, I’m just enjoying doing what I’m doing, I’m grateful to the radio stations that have been supporting me and playing the song, I’d like to do a dance song or extended dance mix for the nightclubs ready for when we all come out of lockdown but I would also love to do a Christmas song so watch this space!’
