Adamic was formed in 2013 by Ian Swaby and Josiah Pletch. The duo have recorded multiple records almost completely DIY over the last decade. In 2021 they teamed up with producer Andrew Stanton (Disciple) to record their latest LP, self-titled. They perform live as a 4-piece with longtime bassist Joshua Harris, and drummer Andrew Garrett.
Where are you based?
We’re in a small town in southern Indiana called Linton.
How long have you been making music?
Ian and myself have been making music together for close to 20 years. We were in our first band together when we were 11 years old.
What genre would you consider your music to be?
Alternative metal/hard rock
What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
It’s the one thing Ian and I are most passionate about. It takes a lot of hard work to make any sort of living from music, but we’re totally invested. And we definitely like music is our life calling.
What are your biggest musical influences?
We’ve got so many haha. The big ones would be P.O.D., Pillar, Deftones, Rush, Disciple, Foo Fighters.
Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?
We’re independent.
What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
Getting people to listen. There’s so much stuff out there all clamoring for your attention, it’s hard to break through the noise sometimes. But with this new record we’re seeing more people connect with our music than we ever have.
How many songs or albums have you released to date?
We’ve released 4 records and some singles along the way.
Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
Our latest release “Adamic” is the first record we’ve made with an outside producer. Andrew Stanton (of Disciple) helped us make the best songs of our entire career. And the production on this record is so beyond anything we’ve done before. We got to record the drums in Lester Estelle’s studio. He’s a huge musical hero of ours so getting to meet him and have him engineer those sessions was amazing. For us, this record serves as a restart. It encapsulates all the struggles we’ve had but also all the reasons we’re still a band today. I think it’s an excellent testament of who we are defined in a single record.
Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
We’ve got a lot cooking haha. It’s all in the beginning stages but we have plenty more where this came from. Check out the latest music video for “All of a Sudden” on our YouTube channel. We’ll see you all soon!
